About Fox Valley United Way

Most people become acquainted with the Fox Valley United Way through their employer’s charitable giving campaigns. But do you really know who we are and what your involvement with our organization means? We’d love to tell you.

What Does United Way Do?

Together with concerned citizens, United Way fights for the HEALTH, EDUCATION and FINANCIAL STABILITY of every person in every community.

We win by LIVING UNITED. By forging partnerships to find new solutions to old problems. By mobilizing the best resources and inspiring individuals to join the fight to help neighbors in need.

United Way is the world’s largest charitable organization.  Each United Way office is independently operated with its own board of directors, meaning that each one leads a change movement in their own area—with 100% of donations staying in the communities served.

The Fox Valley United Way grew out of efforts that began in 1922, when a group of folks in Aurora banded together to raise money to help the less fortunate in their community.

Since then we've been trusted to recruit donors, volunteers and advocates to meet the significant needs we see in Kane and Kendall counties.

We’ve also initiated significant community collaborations like SPARK, Volunteer Fox Valley and FamilyWize that you can read about.

How Can You Live United?

You have incredible potential to leave a lasting legacy by reaching out a hand to even one person.  Want to give financially?  Want to volunteer?  Want to be an advocate for a cause?  We are privileged to Live United with local businesses, organizations, city officials, families and individuals who care about the needs that exist all around them.

We take the collective caring power of these Fox Valley folks and channel it to make sure that people who cannot provide for themselves or their families get help to rise out of dire situations.  We support 63 social service agencies that help people overcome homelessness, hunger, domestic violence, unemployment, substance abuse/mental health issues.  We give to organizations that care for the disabled, for children who need greater educational opportunities and after-school activities.  A list of these organizations can be found under “Organizations That We Support Together”.
